PM, Sonia engaging in false propaganda: Modi

A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accused the BJP government in the state of trying to woo voters by creating an atmosphere of fear, Gujarat Chief Minister on Wednesday hit back alleging both Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi were engaged in a false propaganda against the state.

"The Reserve Bank of India, Planning Commission and international banks are singing paeans about the achievements of Gujarat", Modi said addressing election rallies in North and Central Gujarat which goes to polls in the second phase on December 16.

"But both Soniaji (Congress president) and Dr Manmohan Singh are saying that no development has happened in Gujarat and that BJP has only created illusions about development", Modi remarked.

Modi charged Congress with spreading "false propaganda" against the state.

"Congress has done nothing except defame Gujarat and create hurdles in the progress of the state", Modi has been quoted as saying in a party release here.

"The people of Gujarat will never trust Congress party as it had filed an affadavit in the Supreme Court denying the existence of Lord Ram and labelled Hindus as terrorists", he added.
